Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972.  33rd President of the United States, 1945-1953.  Vintage 1948 dinner program inscribed and signed To Felix Belair, with my very best  /  Harry S. Truman.

This program, from the 1948 annual dinner of the White House Correspondents' Association, has an excellent dual association.  First, 1948, the year in which Truman pulled the biggest upset in American political history by defeating New York Governor Thomas Dewey for the presidency, marked the high point of Truman's presidency.  Second, Felix Belair (1908-1978), to whom Truman inscribed and signed this program, was the longtime White House correspondent for The New York Times.  At the time of his death, he had served in the Times' Washington bureau longer than any reporter in its history.

Truman has inscribed and signed this program in black ink.  The program has a few stains, some of which touch the inscription and signature.  Overall it is in very good to fine condition.
